Products & Materials

Are your materials ready to use?

Yes. All Wild Enclosures habitat materials are packaged ready to use right out of the package.

Some keepers choose to lightly rinse materials before adding them to an enclosure, but this is optional and not required.

Can I request a specific cork bark or wood piece?

You’re welcome to leave a request when placing your order. We will do our best to accommodate requests whenever possible, but due to the natural variation of these products, we cannot guarantee specific pieces.

Where do your materials come from?

Wild Enclosures sources materials from trusted suppliers and carefully packages them for use in bioactive habitats.

Because these are natural products, variations in size, shape, color, and texture are completely normal.

Do you sell live animals, isopods, or springtails?

No. Wild Enclosures specializes in habitat materials, bioactive supplies, and ecosystem support products rather than live animals.

Bioactive Enclosures

What is a bioactive enclosure?

A bioactive enclosure is a living ecosystem that uses beneficial organisms such as isopods, springtails, plants, and microorganisms to help break down waste and recycle nutrients naturally.

When properly maintained, bioactive setups create a more natural environment for reptiles, amphibians, and invertebrates while reducing maintenance.

Do I need both isopods and springtails?

While not strictly required, most bioactive keepers recommend using both.

Isopods help break down leaf litter, wood, and organic waste, while springtails consume mold, fungi, and smaller organic particles. Together they create a more efficient and balanced cleanup crew.

Why is leaf litter important?

Leaf litter serves as both habitat and food for isopods, springtails, and other beneficial microfauna.

It creates natural hiding places, helps retain moisture, encourages natural foraging behaviors, and contributes to the long-term health of a bioactive ecosystem as it gradually breaks down.

Why should I use cork bark?

Cork bark provides natural hiding places, climbing surfaces, and humidity-retaining microhabitats for reptiles, amphibians, isopods, and other enclosure inhabitants.

Because it breaks down slowly, cork bark offers long-lasting structure and enrichment in bioactive setups.

Microfauna & Habitat Care

What is Microfauna Booster?

Microfauna Booster is a natural soil supplement designed to support beneficial microfauna and help maintain active bioactive substrates.

It contains natural organic ingredients that help enrich living soil systems and support healthy ecosystem function.

How do I use Microfauna Booster?

Sprinkle a small amount across the substrate surface, lightly mist, and reapply every 4–6 weeks as part of routine enclosure maintenance.

Microfauna Booster is intended as a supplement for established bioactive systems and is not a standalone substrate.

What products are recommended for a new bioactive enclosure?

Many keepers start with:

• Bioactive Substrate Mix
• Leaf Litter
• Cork Bark
• Sphagnum Moss
• Springtails
• Isopods

Together, these components help create a functional ecosystem with proper shelter, humidity retention, and natural nutrient cycling.
